Podcast Pitch Template: How to Connect with Podcast Hosts and Invite Guests on Your Show

Throughout 2020, I was a co-host of a podcast series called Author Table Talk on the ManifestHer podcast (now called PM School). I had the opportunity to interview NYT Bestseller author Mary Kubica, senior VP agent Carly Watters, among others. I’ve been asked a few times how I invited them on the show. Today, I’m sharing the pitch template I used.

How do I invite someone on my podcast?

Here’s the pitching template that works for me:

To: Carly Watters
Subject Line: Podcast Interview with Carly Watters [writing their name in the subject line gets their attention]

Hi [Person You are Inviting],

I hope all is well - I've been loving your IG content! [compliments go a long way and show personalization]

I recently created the [your show name] for [your audience]. I'm putting together a schedule of authors, agents, and publishing experts [types of guests you are lining up] that I'd love to connect with on the show. The goal is to bring knowledge and resources to ambitious women. [tell them your goal and be sure you’re asking people who will naturally align with this goal]

Are you interested in being a guest?

If so, we can find a date and time to record a 30-45 minute episode via a Zoom call (no video). I'd send you questions in advance and we have an editor, so you don't have to worry about any mess-ups. I'd love to learn about your process of choosing clients, what you've learned about the publishing industry, and how you balance being a top literary agent with your other many responsibilities. [tell them what you want to ask them about on the show]

Below is more information about Manifest, the female-founded company that owns the ManifestHer podcast. [Tell them about your podcast, company, or mission]

How do I ask to be a guest on someone else’s podcast?

Being a guest on podcasts with large platforms is a great marketing tool. I’ve been a guest on several shows, including Be School and ManifestHer. Both opportunities have helped me connect with likeminded people and grow my audience. In most cases, I was invited on the show. But here’s a great template for reaching out to podcasts:

To: Stef Caldwell
Subject Line: PM School Podcast Interview with Kasia Manolas [Include the name of the podcast and your own name, which will intrigue them to find out if you’re a good guest for the show. Podcasters are always looking for guests on their schedule and tend to book far in advance]

Hi [Person You are Asking],

I hope all is well - I've been loving your latest episodes with [include names of recent podcast guests and what you learned from the conversation to show personalization]

I recently wrote a book [share an accomplishment or what you want to share on their show]. I noticed that your audience is comprised of ambitious women in their 20s and 30s, which is why I believe they’ll love this book [state their audience and why they’d be interested in what you have to talk about]. I'd love to connect with you on the show and share more about [list topics you are an expert and can speak about]. My goal is to bring knowledge and resources to ambitious women. [tell them your goal and be sure you’re asking people who will naturally align with this goal]

Are you interested in working together?

If so, I’d love to find a date and time to record the episode.
