What If We Didn’t Write for an Elusive Audience and Instead Wrote For Ourselves?

I have a list in my notes called “tidbits to integrate.” It’s full of facts and ideas that resonate with me that I want to deeply integrate, which means…they’re topics I’m going to write about.

I write to integrate ideas into my own brain. That’s the biggest driver of my writing: to take what is in my head in a giant, messy ball and lay it out neatly in a format I can revisit. I haven’t done a great job in the past at purely, selfishly taking what I am learning and writing about it. Even if it means it doesn’t resonate with everyone else.

This brought me to the following questions:

What if I allowed my writing to be a lot more selfish?

What if I wrote purely about what I’m learning about and what is interesting me in this season and just let it be?

This coincides with a thought I recently wrote on Substack:

In this new season of motherhood, I really don’t want to 'work’ on a project that needs to be successful. And if I’m being honest, that mindset in the past didn’t take me far. I thought…let’s try something new. Let’s drop all preconceived notions. Let’s go all the way into my own lane and my own weird obsessions. If I’m the ONLY person who likes it…that’s okay, too.

My deeper hunch is that weirdness, niche, personality, voice, or whatever you want to call it is the antidote to a world full of AI and reels.

Resonance > noise

True ideas that spark something within you > trying to please an algorithm

Being completely weirdly yourself > a content plan

If nothing else, I will create a library of ideas that I want to return to. I hope it means something to you along the way, too.

Here’s a preview of what I’m working on:

  • My Q3 Goals: What I’m Prioritizing in the Next 90 Days

  • Centering Motherhood: How Embracing This New Role Reshaped My Time, Productivity, Money, Career, and Boundaries

  • An Inside Peek Into My Functional Medicine Protocol on My Way to Complete Remission

  • The Silver Lining: How Chronic Illness Has Actually Made Me Healthier, Happier, and More Whole

  • My Completely Unfiltered Thoughts on Being a “Stay-at-Home-Mom”

  • Status, Money, and Career: How to Avoid Playing Games That Aren’t Worth Playing

  • Why I’m Rejecting Gatekeeping Industries In My Career (For Now)

  • My Biggest Life Regrets and How I’ve Corrected For Them Now

  • Why I’m Considering Homeschooling & The Topics I’d Teach That Aren’t Covered in School

  • How to Prioritize Your Life: The “I Want” Exercise

  • What I Do Instead of Affirmations (and Why It Helps)

  • Why I’m Actively Working Less Hard in this Season and Avoiding the “I Don’t Know How She Does It” Syndrome

I’m not sure if I’ll write all of these or in what order. The idea is to write exactly what I need in the moment, in real time, and send it out. So stay tuned! I hope this top-of-mindness shows up in the writing. I’m hoping to publish a new article every Wednesday, but I’m holding this goal very loosely. I have no interest in being on a schedule. I just loosely know it would be good to put pen to paper weekly…and most importantly…hit send to all of you.

Until next week!
